I really need advice/help with breastfeeding :(?

my baby keeps pulling away from my breast and screaming. She's 6 weeks old and I am so determined to keep going, but she keeps having episodes where she refuses to drink from me, she pulls away from my breast after sucking for a few seconds and screaming. When I try and put her back on the breast the same thing happens. I am in tears trying to get her to drink :( What could be the problem?I really need advice/help with breastfeeding :(?
It could be one of many things- but I suspect it's one of these:

1- She's getting frustrated that she's not getting milk right away. Try stimulating a let down (nipple stimulatio) before you latch her on so that the flow is going before she starts sucking.

2- Too much milk is coming out and she's overwhelmed. Try laying down to feed her. Less gravitational pull will have less milk come out.

3- She's not truly hungry %26amp; just wants to suckle or she needs to burp. Babies at 6 weeks don't know the difference between a hunger pang and a gas pain. So if she has gas in her belly, she'll show signs that she's hungry even if she's not. Try burping her more often during feeds. If she just wants to suckle and you put her to the breast %26amp; she gets milk, she might be getting frustrated because she doesn't want milk. You could either offer her a pacifier, or stick through it and she'll learn how to suckle without pulling milk out.

Good luck, mama! Hope you figure it out.I really need advice/help with breastfeeding :(?
First thing first. If you have any anxiety about breastfeeding your little on will sense it and automatically respond. Try doing it in a quiet area, somewhere with no distractions just you and her. Get her in to a routine. Before you try to get her to latch on sing her a song or do something that prepares her to eat this way it becomes familiar. Also try to saty away from foods that will effect the taste of your milk.

Good Luck !
The best thing I did in this situation was to stop trying to feed for about 30 min, burp, walk around, give baby a change in environment, then if baby seems hungry, try again. As long as baby wets at least 6 diapers in 24 hours, no need to worry about baby getting enough to drink. If wetting less diapers, call MD and get appt. Some babies act this way with ear infections. Of course, if baby has a fever over 100.4 rectally, call doctor right away.

If it seems like you have a forceful let-down (very painful letdown, milk sprays forcefully), let-down into a paper towel first, then put baby to breast, then she won't feel like she's having to choke the milk down. :)
It could be a number of different things - and more than likely just a short phase, she's still brand new to this, just as you are.

she might not be hungry everytime you put her on?

try other things before feeding, like changing her, playing with her, singing etc or maybe get her a dummy cuz she might just want something to comfort herself with
There may be something in your milk that is irritating her, also flow could be the problem either to fast or not enough! I would check with your doc.
I agree with the first answer, it wont last long, and soon enough you will LOVE breastfeeding her. Good luck!!
