maybe norman rockwell
Laughing Cavalier Franz Hals

what is he finding SO funny
An easy one would be for Sandro Botticelli's painting ';The Cestello Annunciation'; when the angel came to tell Mary she was pregant...BUT you are unsure in the painting if she is shying away from him or moving towards him...its very interesting!
The Picasso cubist painting The Musicians,the costumes would be fairly easy to make from cardboard packaging and the music could be like Status Quo with cardboard guitars.i can't claim originality for this but photographed the performance on an in service course for Arts teachers in the 1980s at Sheffield.
The Scream - Edvard Munch

Oh no. That's already been made into a set of cr@ppy horror films.

Maybe 'And when did you last see you father', by William Frederick Yeames

Comedy? Errr...Beryl Cook's paintings are quite funny: http://www.berylcook.org/desktopdefault_鈥?/a>
How about that one ';when did you last see your father? ';

A famous English painting, none of your modern rubbish. And the story behind it is sort of interesting.
Edgar Degas The Dance Class (La Classe de Danse),1873鈥?876, oil on canvas, by Edgar Degas! I watched a movie on him.... He's mean!
Try to be creative, try using images to reflect the painting such as how it was created.

Look into the thoughts of the artist how the painting was created, such as this page at the bottom @

and the materials used to support the painting.

Bill
You could do a modern day interpretation of the last supper.
