Need advice on how to get rid of black ants in one section of yard, tried the ant stakes, doesn't work. help

I live in a fairly new area. I have tried the sprays for ants and stakes. They are still alive and well. They are in an area where I have planted flowers......I need your help......I need to get rid of these and calling a pest control is too costly as I am retired and on a limited income.Need advice on how to get rid of black ants in one section of yard, tried the ant stakes, doesn't work. help
Mix equal parts of borax and white granulated sugar. Place in small bowls or bottle caps in and around ant traffic areas. This is an organic way to take care of ants, and also most effective I've come accross. Of course, if it rains however you'll have to replace your outdoor containers' contants.

How it works: The ants will carry it to their hills, and all the ants that ingest it will eventually explode.

try boiling water pour it on the ant hill directly into it for each ant hill you may need a couple pots full
1 gallon of kerosene... guaranteed!
Try a granular ant bait. The type where they will take back to the main nest and be elimated at the source. Review the label and be patient as it may take a week or so to be effective. Just be sure and to follow the label directions.
In the garden shop you should find a product called Nippon Ant Killer. It is priced reasonably - and here is the trick. Near where the ants are, cover an area with some kind of lid or something similar. Mix a quantity of the Ant Killer with some sugar and place it under the cover. The ants will take the poisoned sugar back to the nest and they and the pupas will die. Works every time for me and it keeps them away for a couple of years...
Have you tried Terro....it is a fabulous product,,,they make a liquid trap that kills great.
this is a cruel choice, poor bleach over the effected area. it works
First off, you will never eliminate ants, too many of them and they out last any treatment, while you may kill some, they have back up. All you can hope to do is contain them, my wife and I have used an ammonia and water solution in a spray bottle to set up perimeters where we dont want ants. Outdoors, you should reapply every couple of days.
there may be a flower tree that's attracting the ants. my neighbor has a tall flower tree that attracts the big black ants. either get rid of the flower tree or spray roach spray.
