Try a rescue or the humane society of your area. You may have to travel a little to get one but it would be worth it to give a dog a second chance.

Local animal shelters are a great place to find an inexpensive pet. Tho you will not likely find one with a pedigree. Most shelters have waiting lists for people wanting a particular breed.
Look at some local adoption sites, and even at rescue's for dogs. Your likely to find the perfect one there.
Contact a Great Dane rescue organization. Their dogs will be vet checked and temperament tested, have all necessary shots etc. Google ';Great Dane rescue'; for the one in your area. Beware of puppy mills posing as rescues.
